About the Role
You will own product and commercial execution for biodefense, determining which problems Omnii is ready to solve and turning technical evaluations into funded deployments. You will have substantial say in the samples, comparators, acceptance criteria, and validations used, and will build early prototypes yourself. This role carries a commercial target, biased towards long-term, funded programs with biodefense partners.
Responsibilities
- Decide which detection and characterization problems we pursue, and set the technical bar Omnii must clear before a customer uses its results on operational samples.
- Find and develop government opportunities, determining who holds the requirement, where the funding sits, and what would have to happen for an evaluation to become a program.
- Design evaluations with the buyer, often involving blinded retrospective studies, comparison against the currently fielded pipeline, and performance on actual customer samples.
- Choose a viable path to award, considering the constraints of OTA consortia, BAAs, small-business programs, subcontracts, and direct awards.
- Turn deployment constraints into product requirements, including on-premises or disconnected operation, pinned model versions, provenance, auditability, and authorization evidence.
- Build prototypes to demonstrate how Omnii would work in a customer's existing process, then collaborate with applications engineering for production deployment.
- Own the commercial process through award, setting pricing and deal structure, and leading negotiations.
Requirements
- Personally helped win or deliver a technical program for the US government.
- Experience navigating an award cycle, understanding requirement ownership, funding sources, and pilot-to-program transitions.
- Working fluency in pathogen genomics and biosurveillance, including metagenomic sequencing and pathogen-agnostic detection.
- Ability to hold discussions with government scientists, translate technical objections into product decisions, and communicate these decisions to researchers and engineers.
- Capability to build early prototypes to test workflows, interrogate model output, or make proposed products concrete for customers.
- Effectiveness in overcoming obstacles related to data authority, software authorization, procurement, or incumbent contracts.
- Willingness and eligibility to pursue a US security clearance if required.
