About the Role

The Senior Adviser Safeguarding is an internal specialist supporting Australian Red Cross to prevent harm to children and vulnerable adults in International Operations, and as required in support of broader domestic operations. The role ensures a strong child and adult safeguarding culture and framework across the organisation aligned to DFAT and Movement standards, primarily focused on capacity building and continuous improvement of safeguarding policy and practice for Partner National Societies in the Asia Pacific and International Operations more broadly. This role supports the continuous strengthening of safeguarding frameworks in the prevention of and response to safeguarding incidents, including ensuring quality investigations that align with Movement obligations, regulatory requirements, and recognised best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support capacity building and continuous improvement of safeguarding policy and practice for Partner National Societies based in the Asia Pacific, and International Operations more broadly.
  • Support continuous strengthening of safeguarding frameworks in the prevention of and response to safeguarding incidents.
  • Ensure quality investigations that align with Movement obligations, regulatory requirements and recognised best practice.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in Child Protection, Adult Safeguarding, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment within humanitarian, community service and/or other complex safeguarding environments.
  • Proven experience in the implementation of systems and processes to provide effective root cause analysis, systemic issue identification, and trend analysis and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience in harm prevention, incident management, investigation or related processes at an organisational level.
  • Substantial experience in developing and embedding high quality training and development programs for staff, volunteers and partners including senior management.
  • Experience working across a broad spectrum of contexts, cross cultural and vulnerable communities.
  • Professional experience in developing and implementing safeguarding capacity building initiatives within the humanitarian, international development sector and/or complex community service environments.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside normal business hours and engage in international travel as required for the role.

Salary/Compensations

  • Salary from $115,339.12 + super + salary packaging
