About the Role
This role is for a Design Manager who enjoys bridging the gap between design intent and construction reality. You will influence solutions early, facilitate decisions among consultants and stakeholders, and provide clarity to delivery teams for safe, efficient, and high-quality construction. Your technical judgment will directly impact the quality, value, and buildability of delivered projects.
Responsibilities
- Translate client requirements, consultant inputs, and project constraints into a clear design pathway for the team.
- Lead design coordination across architects, engineers, services consultants, authorities, subcontractors, and specialist advisors.
- Align design milestones with procurement and construction activities to ensure teams have necessary information before critical decision points.
- Review documentation considering time, cost, quality, compliance, and buildability, identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities.
- Support design reviews, value management, and Safety in Design processes to enhance outcomes for clients, users, and delivery teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience coordinating design deliverables on construction projects, preferably in a design and construct or main contractor environment.
- Working knowledge of construction staging, procurement, approvals, and design documentation workflows.
- Ability to engage confidently with clients, consultants, authorities, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complexity into clear actions.
- Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
