About the Role

CRED is a cohort-based vocational training program for at-risk community members aged 18-40. The program offers classroom instruction, case management, internships, and job placement to help clients obtain a Commercial Driver’s License and secure employment in the transportation industry. The Instructor will develop curriculum and facilitate training in work readiness, financial literacy, leadership, basic skills, and entrepreneurship, fostering vocational, problem-solving, and life skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging vocational training curriculum, including presentations, activities, and hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Facilitate daily workshops to develop clients' work readiness and self-sufficiency skills, preparing them for the Commercial Driver’s License Permit Exam.
  • Provide academic support and tutoring for clients needing assistance with basic math, English, and communication skills.
  • Integrate guest speakers, mentors, and content experts into content delivery.
  • Employ educational strategies to advance participants' knowledge and connect learning to career goals.
  • Ensure completion and submission of all education-related deliverables to the Program Director within the program training period.
  • Engage CRED Case Managers and Job Developer in classroom instruction for a holistic educational experience.
  • Maintain regular communication with Case Managers and Job Developer to share client progress and support goal achievement.
  • Contribute to client case notes per DYCD standards.
  • Ensure completion of participant surveys to capture feedback at the end of each cohort.
  • Support engagement and enrichment events hosted by the CRED team.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, clients, and community partners.
  • Advise and coach clients through advocacy, support, and guidance to ensure success.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Education or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in education and/or the commercial driving industry.
  • 2+ years of experience in youth services or working with vulnerable populations, in occupational and life skills training, college preparation and enrollment.
  • Experience developing academic and life skills curriculum, including reading, writing, mathematics, professionalism, digital literacy, and financial literacy.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and guide individuals in pursuit of individual goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt content delivery to client needs.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, written, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and GSulte platforms.
  • Experience with remote work/remote learning technology, including Zoom, Google Meets, Google Classroom, and the Internet.
  • Demonstrates ability to conduct and complete work independently, meeting deadlines, while contributing to a collaborative team effort.
  • Willing and able to take initiative, be flexible, and engage in active problem-solving.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and fluency in adapting to meet participant needs.
  • Demonstrates understanding and value of individuals' different capacities, cultures, and abilities.
  • Respect for diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, academic, religious, and cultural backgrounds and identities.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to observe details at close range.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs as needed.
  • May include working prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
