About the Role
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the program and site, including all staff, participants, and visitors. Security Guards must remain alert, focused, and aware of their surroundings at all times, demonstrating vigilance, attention to detail, and the ability to retain and process information effectively.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and observe entrances and exits.
- Patrol and monitor assigned areas by walking around as needed to ensure proper and clear views.
- Collaborate with school/site personnel on a daily basis.
- Follow daily procedures and routines to ensure that the site is secure and safety is maintained.
- Prevent losses, theft and damages by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed/required.
- Keep accurate visitor logs and sign in and sign out sheets, in an organized manner.
- Effectively communicate any issues or problems that arise.
- Deescalate, detect and confront unauthorized persons and violators of security procedures.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- Must pass reference checks and background as designated by DOH, DOE, DYCD and UAU.
- Must be culturally competent - ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures and age ranges.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Ability to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet or more of the observer).
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed.
- Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes.
