About the Role

The Markets Application Production Services (MAPS) group is responsible for managing production systems across Global Markets Technology, working closely with the business and providing application support. This role involves interacting with development and infrastructure teams to manage changes to the production environment, with a strong focus on operational excellence and process improvement. The Application Support Specialist will provide front-line support for Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Clearing, Settlements, Risk, and P&L related to Global Markets Operations & Middle Office, supporting core Python, RDBMS like Oracle, MSSQL, Sybase, Object Oriented DBs like MongoDB & AMPS based applications, and partnering with the development team for state-of-the-art, real-time, high availability systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver application support for in-house applications and vendor products used by Global Markets Securities operations teams.
  • Triage and manage production incidents to restore service swiftly, including clear incident communications to stakeholders.
  • Adhere to and oversee adherence to enterprise-defined standard operating procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues, including root cause analysis and end-to-end coordination of problem resolution.
  • Ensure high-quality and accurate documentation of problem resolution processes and procedures.
  • Correlate events across multiple systems to proactively surface and resolve underlying issues.
  • Aid continuous improvement of production systems' state and supportability, including weekend and rotational out-of-hours support.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business users and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure issues and defects are reported and actioned per business requirements and timelines.
  • Participate in a rostered support and on-call coverage model for APAC business operations, including weekdays, weekends, public holidays, and non-standard business hours.
  • Learn and incorporate application support requirements across global markets operations teams while building APAC presence.
  • Work with other MAPS team members globally to ensure consistency in service standards and delivery.

Requirements

  • 10–12+ years of hands-on experience in technology and production support roles.
  • Strong foundation in ITIL principles and operational best practices.
  • Deep expertise supporting complex, business-critical Equities Post-Trade platforms.
  • Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve high-priority production incidents in time-sensitive environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Equities trade lifecycle (trade capture, allocations, confirmations, trade processing, clearing, settlement, reconciliations, exception management).
  • Working knowledge of the Australian securities market, including ASX post-trade services and CHESS settlement processes.
  • Experience supporting back-office operations across Australian and global equities markets.
  • Strong understanding of Reference Data processing, securities master data, and batch management.
  • Excellent understanding and practical application of Incident, Problem, Change, and Major Incident Management processes aligned to ITIL best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Experience in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization.
  • Strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, databases, and middleware technologies (Linux, Windows, SAN/NAS, Networks, Oracle, MS SQL, MQ, EMS, RV, Market Data platforms).
  • Knowledge of post-trade processing, settlements, reconciliations, fail management, custody workflows, and operational controls within Equities environments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across development, infrastructure, operations, business users, vendors, and geographically distributed support teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with experience supporting start-of-day, start-of-week, weekend activities, market deadlines, and evolving business priorities.
  • OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure experience.
  • Database Technologies – Oracle Exadata, PL/SQL, Data Lake, OODB, MongoDB experience.
  • Scripting Languages – Python, Shell, Bash experience.
  • Monitoring Technology – ITRS Genos/Splunk, Dynatrace experience.
  • Pub/Sub messaging – 60 East AMPS, IBM MQ, Kafka experience.
  • DevOps (Jenkins, GIT, Ansible) and Autosys scheduling experience.
