About the Role
Modern Packaging is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to join their Aftermarket team. This role involves supporting customers by ensuring their equipment performs optimally, acting as a trusted technical resource, and performing hands-on technical work with opportunities for travel.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, repair, and maintain automated machinery at customer sites, including electrical and mechanical work.
- Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to achieve contracted efficiency rates, perform audits, install upgrades, and deliver follow-up operator training.
- Document all service activities in detailed site reports.
- Support customers by recommending machine upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts.
- Train customer personnel during installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- While not traveling, support the facility by assembling and testing new machines and participating in customer Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Maintain flexibility to adapt to diverse work environments and resolve issues quickly.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Field Service Technician (or similar) with 3+ years of machine startup, repair, and maintenance on medium to large-scale industrial equipment.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree in a related technical field (mechanical or electrical) preferred.
- Strong technical skills, including mechanical repair, ability to read part/assembly drawings and wiring schematics.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, and servo controllers preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly and train customer personnel.
- Ability to work well with all levels of operators and management.
- Self-motivated and adaptable.
- Able to work independently while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally.
- Passport required.
