About the Role

The Housing Education & Community Engagement Specialist supports tenant education, outreach, and community engagement activities within the Mission SRO Collaborative (MSROC) program. This role involves developing and facilitating workshops, supporting multilingual outreach, coordinating engagement efforts, and strengthening tenant participation in SRO communities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tenant education and community engagement strategies aligned with DBI deliverables and program goals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate tenant rights workshops, housing education sessions, and community meetings.
  • Support the creation and distribution of multilingual outreach and educational materials.
  • Coordinate outreach activities with staff, promotoras, and community partners.
  • Build relationships with SRO tenants, tenant leaders, and community organizations.
  • Support resident leadership development and tenant engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with tenant counselors and legal partners to ensure tenants are connected to appropriate services and referrals.
  • Track outreach, workshop participation, and engagement data for reporting purposes.
  • Support program planning, implementation, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and cross-program coordination activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in community outreach, tenant education, organizing, housing services, or related social service work.
  • Strong understanding of housing justice, tenant rights, and/or SRO communities in San Francisco.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or community education sessions.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and community partnerships.
  • Experience working with immigrant, low-income, multilingual, and culturally diverse communities.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Experience working within SRO communities.
  • Experience with DBI, housing stabilization, or tenant counseling programs.
  • Experience supervising outreach or engagement activities.
