About the Role

The Léman Conservatory private lesson program seeks an experienced piano instructor to teach private lessons to students in Grades K-12 during after-school hours (3:30-6:30 PM weekdays).

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach 45-minute, one-on-one private lessons for students in grades K-12.
• Sequence and differentiate instruction to ensure consistent progress and growth for each student.
• Set and maintain clear expectations for students regarding weekly practice and progress.
• Assign appropriate weekly material including technical exercises, etudes, and repertoire.
• Communicate frequently with parents and the Léman Conservatory Coordinator.
• Submit bi-weekly lesson logs to the Léman Conservatory Coordinator.
• Prepare students for the annual Léman Conservatory Recital.
• Prepare students for auditions or competitions (e.g., NYSSMA, college auditions).
• Communicate in a professional and proactive manner.
• Maintain positive interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate independence and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus.
• 3+ years of private teaching experience.
• Knowledge of piano method books, technique training exercises, and repertoire.
• Master’s Degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus (preferred).
