About the Role
The Léman Conservatory private lesson program seeks an experienced piano instructor to teach private lessons to students in Grades K-12 during after-school hours (3:30-6:30 PM weekdays).
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach 45-minute, one-on-one private lessons for students in grades K-12.
- Sequence and differentiate instruction to ensure consistent progress and growth for each student.
- Set and maintain clear expectations for students regarding weekly practice and progress.
- Assign appropriate weekly material including technical exercises, etudes, and repertoire.
- Communicate frequently with parents and the Léman Conservatory Coordinator.
- Submit bi-weekly lesson logs to the Léman Conservatory Coordinator.
- Prepare students for the annual Léman Conservatory Recital.
- Prepare students for auditions or competitions (e.g., NYSSMA, college auditions).
- Communicate in a professional and proactive manner.
- Maintain positive interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate independence and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus.
- 3+ years of private teaching experience.
- Knowledge of piano method books, technique training exercises, and repertoire.
- Master’s Degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus (preferred).
