About the Role

Join the Ng Siu Chan Centre, Yee Hong's newest long-term care home, and help shape its culture and resident experience from day one. This role is crucial in providing an innovative care environment focused on purpose, dignity, independence, and choice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meals, portion and serve dessert, and perform dishwashing.
• Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, pots, pans, and small dishware.
• Perform general and special cleaning duties in the kitchen.
• Set up, deliver, and serve meals accurately, timely, orderly, and safely.
• Prepare and deliver nourishment and special orders according to diet orders and client preferences.
• Wrap, date-label, and store food items.
• Clean, wash, and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, dishware, and cooking equipment efficiently and thoroughly.
• Clean production areas, stove, refrigeration area, dish and pot washing areas, dining room, and servery, maintaining a safe, clean, and organized condition.
• Perform regular cleaning duties, including floor cleaning.
• Comply with risk management policy for health and safety and GHS.
• Follow protocols, such as temperature logs, to comply with standards from the Ministry, public health, and other regulatory bodies.
• Follow protocols on rotation and utilization of stock and inventory.
• Perform general and special cleaning duties, including deep cleaning, refrigerator, blue bin, handwashing sink, and work table.
• Remove garbage from the kitchen before the end of the shift.
• Maintain garbage containers, clean linens, and fold cardboard boxes.
• Organize the janitor room and monitor chemical supplies, reporting timely for replenishment.
• Replenish sanitary supplies as appropriate.
• Receive delivery of goods and ensure accuracy.
• Keep up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Successful completion of, or current enrollment in, a recognized Food Service Worker Program.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Some experience in the food services industry.
• Ability to lift heavy industrial-size food trays, pots, and pans.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Successful applicants must provide a recent satisfactory vulnerable sector police reference check and medical clearance certificate.

Skills

• Ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset.
