About the Role

This role will lead and manage the 15+ licensed portfolio for Kate Spade New York, encompassing categories such as eyewear, fragrance, watches, and home décor. The position is crucial for brand extensions, customer acquisition, and revenue generation, contributing to the brand's heritage and future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day communications with licensing partners.
  • Develop long-range plans for the licensing division by category.
  • Analyze and identify opportunities to grow the business in existing and new categories.
  • Interface with international divisions to maximize new business opportunities.
  • Support and help lead the Japan local licensing team.
  • Drive business development with licensees through research.
  • Partner with legal to amend and update legal documents and manage contract renewals.
  • Ensure clear, timely, and consistent communication between licensees and management.
  • Assist in the preparation of business reviews, presentations, market recaps, and selling information.
  • Develop working relationships with DTC teams, monitor sales, and request seasonal briefs.
  • Share corporate communications with licensees and partners.
  • Monitor monthly retail sales.
  • Coordinate monthly financial reviews and quarterly business reviews with licensees.
  • Research and approve new account requests and identify additional distribution opportunities.
  • Prepare seasonal marketing plans with partners, highlighting key opportunities.
  • Initiate and manage marketing project requests with the internal marketing department through to final approval.
  • Review and develop seasonal line plans with licensees.
  • Collaborate with Design on seasonal trend information and color/print standards.
  • Conduct market research on concepts, color, and trends to aid the design process.
  • Schedule and attend seasonal development reviews from concept to final approval.
  • Facilitate communication between internal and external design leads.
  • Identify key contract issues and escalate to Legal as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all licensees, including renewals and amendments.
  • Act as the business lead with Tapestry Legal on contract discussions.
  • Create term sheets and drive the negotiation process for contracts.
  • Coordinate with Tapestry Legal teams on legal document creation and updates.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in fashion and/or home industries.
  • Licensing experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Workfront, and Adobe InDesign.
  • People-management experience (direct reports and overseeing a team of 4).
  • Strong business acumen and contract skills.
  • Proactive, self-directed leader with sound judgment, curiosity, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communicator capable of building trust, influencing partners, and navigating complex conversations.
  • Business planning and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with legal documents and negotiations.
  • Excellent product sensibility with experience in fashion and home categories.
