About the Role
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Associate Director Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management for a major technology client's rapid corporate real estate expansion, focusing on large-scale commercial office retrofits, tenant improvements, and adaptive reuse projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead cost management team and ensure accountability.
- Interface with clients, stakeholders, and consultants.
- Perform quantity surveying, cost control, and change management.
- Communicate professionally with contractors, owner's representatives, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate cost management and project controls services.
- Report on the overall commercial status of projects.
- Drive best practices in cost management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Conduct staff performance reviews.
- Set team strategy and ambition.
- Coach and mentor talent.
- Develop exceptional people.
- Ensure excellence in leadership and service delivery.
- Manage financial aspects using internal software for margin tracking and forecasts.
- Develop priority plans, risk mitigation, and performance measurements.
- Implement and maintain Business Management Systems and delivery methodologies.
- Undertake internal BMS audits and coordinate external audits.
- Develop market understanding and identify business opportunities.
- Advise on contracting and procurement strategy.
- Build strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Participate in meetings and deliver presentations.
- Provide weekly project updates and propose solutions.
- Identify and act on cross-selling and business generation opportunities.
- Participate in proposal and RFP responses.
- Ensure key information and learning is captured and inputted into databases.
- Attend networking events.
- Act as a role model promoting a balanced culture.
- Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or a related field.
- Graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
- Focus on interior retrofits and commercial build-outs.
- Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
- SME in Quantity Surveying.
- RICS certified or equivalent accreditation.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills.
