About the Role

Austin Community College (ACC) seeks to provide support services for instructional technology applications to faculty and staff. This role involves training assistance, equipment inventory maintenance, and supporting the use of media and multimedia for instruction.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain training videos and documentation for instructional technologies.
• Provide end-user training, consultations, and technical support on instructional technologies like lecture capture, web conferencing, and learning management systems.
• Consult with faculty to recommend applicable media, multimedia equipment use, design, and production techniques.
• Conduct train-the-trainer workshops for internal teams.
• Create media and multimedia in partnership with subject matter experts for various instructional formats.
• Facilitate one-on-one instruction and group workshops.
• Maintain and track instructional technologies for short-term loan to faculty and staff.
• Support the use of in-classroom audio-visual technologies through training, documentation, and technical support.
• Perform routine maintenance of in-classroom audio-visual technologies and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Provide assistance to partnering production teams for faculty/guest presentations and special events.
• Assist and/or lead media production projects, including video and audio projects and digital data conversions.
• Research instructional technology trends and provide recommendations.
• Provide training to and oversee work of hourly staff.
• Report violations under Title IX and crimes under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act if identified as a Campus Security Authority.

Requirements

• Two years of related work experience.
• Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for local Austin area travel.
• Work safely and follow safety rules.
• Report unsafe working conditions and behavior.
• Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
• Employees are required to maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college and throughout the duration of employment.

Skills

• Media equipment and instructional technology operation and industry standards.
• Computer and multimedia software application packages (Windows and IOS).
• Instructional development techniques (Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, lecture capture, desktop web conferencing tools).
• Current principles and practices of multimedia presentations.
• Working in an academic environment.
• Maintaining an established work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.

• Inventory and property management.
• Operating and maintaining a variety of media equipment safely and competently.
• Using basic tools, equipment, and procedures for repairing media equipment and peripheral devices.

• Applying problem-solving techniques.
• Use of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
