About the Role
As a Construction Manager, you will review the monthly status of ground-up construction projects, moving Pacific Life and your career forward. You will have extensive experience in multi-family/student housing high-rise, garden-style, and podium construction, along with steel and industrial structures. This is a new role within a team of 4 Construction Managers.
Responsibilities
- Review construction documents and property condition assessments to evaluate risks and provide feedback to the Loan Closing and Equity teams during the closing due diligence review period.
- Provide expert technical advice.
- Interpret internal or external business issues and recommend process, product, or service improvements.
- Solve complex problems that have an impact on the business by taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
- Monitor construction through completion to protect against faulty construction and ensure projects conform to approved construction documents.
- Understand how loan documents relate to construction deals.
- Set up and attend kick-off meetings for new construction projects.
- Maintain extensive project documentation and related records for internal use and distribution on a regular and scheduled basis.
Requirements
- 10+ years in the construction industry (General Contracting as a Construction Project Manager and/or Ownership/Development as a Construction Manager).
- Proficient knowledge of plans and specifications, construction contracts, and the loan draw review process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under tight deadlines while staying flexible and proactive.
- Proficiency in software applications, specifically Microsoft Office 365, OneDrive, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SharePoint and Box, Procore.
- Willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel is required.
