About the Role

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mind & Memory Director to lead and manage all aspects of the Memory Care environment. This role involves recruitment, training, scheduling, and supporting care associates, while developing and implementing innovative care strategies to enhance the resident experience. The goal is to create an environment that supports each resident's highest level of physical, social, and psychological well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, coaching, recognition, engagement, and performance evaluations on all Harbor Resident Care Associates.
  • Maintain an engaging, homelike environment offering residents opportunities for interaction and enjoyment.
  • Support and monitor day-to-day quality resident services to ensure high resident, family, and associate satisfaction.
  • Schedule all staff for 24/7 Memory Care Program services while monitoring labor hours against budget.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop resident care staff for the Memory Impaired Program.
  • Ensure successful outcomes in customer, family, and associate relations, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
  • Partner with the Resident Care Director (RN) to ensure resident service plans are provided and changes are communicated.
  • Support residents' family, friends, and significant others as ongoing caregivers and members of the caregiving team.
  • Communicate frequently with family members.
  • Understand and manage the department's budget.
  • Attend and actively participate in local Alzheimer's Association Chapters or local partnerships.
  • Conduct tours of Harbor for prospective residents and families.

Requirements

  • Ambitious, approachable, and hands-on manager with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • BA/BS degree in a health science related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the dementia disease process, associated functional changes, and disease progression.
  • Ability to identify and implement adaptive strategies to support an individual's abilities.
  • Minimum of 3 years memory care experience.
  • Must have strong supervisory, leadership, and management skills.
  • Must have strong mentoring and coaching skills; ability to inspire and develop others.
  • Ability to be self-directed, flexible, and work in an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to relate in a positive and professional way to a diverse resident and associate population.
