About the Role
Contributes to the success of the Scotiabank US Research Department by executing individual goals and plans to support team strategies. This role requires individuals who are driven to win, motivated to grow, and aim to be the best in the sector, while ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Assists the Senior Analyst with day-to-day responsibilities, including developing and updating forecasting models, maintaining company information, and monitoring economic developments.
- Reviews daily news services for information impacting the macro, industry, and company drivers.
- Communicates with company management to stay informed about events impacting company performance.
- Drafts research reports communicating views on company recommendations and commentary on economic developments.
- Works closely with the Senior Analyst on launching new company coverage and developing new industry and thematic research reports.
- Partners with other sector colleagues and analysts in the United States, Canada, and Latin America on industry and company reports, as well as client and corporate events.
- Assists sales and trading personnel with investor communications.
- Facilitates company marketing efforts by coordinating meetings with industry and corporate contacts.
- Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy and adherence to business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Requirements
- A university degree is required, with a preference for business, economics, engineering, computer science/programming.
- FINRA SIE, S-63, S-86 and S-87 designations will be required.
- Strong accounting, financial modeling, and analytical skills are required.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Suite, with a particular emphasis on Excel is required.
- Work experience in a financial, engineering, or analytical capacity in a computer science/programming field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good business judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several ongoing projects simultaneously.
- Energetic, self-motivated, hardworking, one-firm-minded, and detail-oriented.

- Capital Markets knowledge/experience
- Experience using Bloomberg, FactSet and AI tools
- P.Eng, MBA, CPA/CA designation or enrollment in/completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program
