About the Role
The Capital Markets Accounting Advisory Services (CMAAS) team supports clients through significant financial changes, including acquisitions, divestitures, accounting changes, restructuring, capital transactions like IPOs, and digital transformation projects. This role offers the opportunity to advise clients on complex financial reporting issues and transactions, working closely with senior management, bankers, lawyers, and other advisors.
Responsibilities
- Support clients through capital market transactions, including IPO readiness and other market transactions (e.g., BAR Reports, capital raising, pro forma financial statements).
- Assist clients with accounting change projects, such as GAAP conversions, implementation of accounting policy changes, and new accounting standards.
- Collaborate with Deals colleagues on the accounting implications of acquisitions and divestitures.
- Prepare complex accounting calculations, quarterly/annual financial statements, and management reporting.
- Research technical accounting matters and apply knowledge to client-specific scenarios.
- Prepare accounting whitepapers and diagnostic reports for clients to document positions for auditors and regulators.
- Work flexibly within the team, respond promptly to ad hoc client requests, and manage a portfolio of jobs and clients.
- Focus on project details and quality.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients, adhering to the firm's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
- Leverage analytical tools, techniques, and GenAI solutions to identify insights, drive value, support project delivery, and foster client relationships.
Requirements
- Proven technical expertise in technical accounting, corporate finance, advisory, or audit roles, with exposure to capital markets transactions, acquisitions/divestitures, and IPO readiness.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, regulatory frameworks (IFRS, US GAAP and ASPE), and market practices governing IPOs, capital raisings, and other transactions.
- Ability to interpret complex financial and business issues, assess risks holistically, and deliver insightful, pragmatic recommendations.
- Skilled at articulating complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and foster a collaborative, client-focused culture.
- A coachable, open-minded person dedicated to self-improvement, developing new skills, and career development.
- Commitment to building trusted, long-term client relationships and delivering exceptional value.
- Ability to work independently and on a team in a multi-tasked, fast-paced, and changing project-based environment.
