About the Role
The Senior Psychiatric Provider is a skilled psychiatric provider who delivers direct clinical care and offers psychiatric guidance to clinicians and programs. This role partners with leadership to ensure outstanding integrated care and reports to the Senior Supervising Psychiatric Provider, dedicating at least 85% of their time to direct clinical care.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric assessment, clarification of clinical diagnosis, recommend treatment options, and provide client education on mental health issues and strategies for recovery.
- Review patient's progress and recommend discharge and aftercare planning.
- Support psychiatric best practices at the CCBHC.
- Assist with providing prescription coverage when program providers are not working.
- Assist with clinical consultations and escalation pathways.
- Provide clinical support to psychiatric nurse practitioner students.
- Support new practitioners by providing clinical orientation, including electronic health record use and system navigation.
- Support the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NPP) Residency and psychiatric nurse practitioner students through precepting or providing coverage.
- Support programs in orienting providers to their new role for the first 3 months.
- Support NPP Students seeing clients at programs.
- Support Psych providers working at programs.
- Support programs with escalation pathways, case consultations, and support for other psychiatric providers.
- Stay up to date with evidenced based practices to support application of best practices.
- Support and streamline administrative and leadership issues related to programs.
- Provide temporary/limited hours at clinical programs with psych vacancies, if needed.
- Provide refill coverage.
Requirements
- Significant experience providing psychiatric care, preferably with a wide range of diagnoses and demographic groups including all age ranges.
- Demonstrated commitment to, ability for, and/or experience in training new providers.
- Comfort supervising students and newly graduated NPPs.
- Ability to provide at least 2 days on site.
- Active New York State NPP license and DEA.
- Approved PECOS and OPRA status in NYS required.
- Proficient with electronic health record.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Comfortable and proficient using audio video platforms (i.e., Zoom).
- Routinely required to sit (90% of the time) and stand (10% of the time).
