About the Role

RADAR is building the data infrastructure layer for the physical world, starting with retail. Our hardware-enabled SaaS platform uses proprietary overhead sensors, software, and AI-powered analytics to locate every product in a store, continuously, down to the fixture. We are deployed across 1,400+ stores with retailers including American Eagle Outfitters and Old Navy, processing tens of billions of real-world events every day, delivering 99%+ accuracy in complex, noisy environments - at fleet scale. RADAR is one of the best-funded companies in retail technology, backed by a recent Series B financing at a $1 billion valuation. Join us if you want to work on a large, unsolved, technically challenging problem with an ambitious team building category-defining technology.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the go-to expert for assigned features, influencing feature definition, design, and execution autonomously.
  • Analyze RFID tag read data from various environments to assess system performance using Python and SQL.
  • Test and document key performance metrics, synthesizing findings from team members.
  • Monitor field performance across the fleet by analyzing production data in BigQuery.
  • Write detailed and testable requirements with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Decompose requirements to subsystem levels to inform required component performance.
  • Collaborate with the System Test team to validate design and engineering changes against system and feature requirements.
  • Validate the performance of subsystems and components, including custom RFID sensors, control software, mobile applications, and cloud analytics.
  • Triage test failures and field bugs to identify problems and potential root causes.
  • Lead debug sessions with engineers to agree on root causes and solutions.
  • Drive alignment across Hardware and Software Engineering, System Test, Customer Experience, Product, and Design teams.
  • Collaborate with leadership to influence system feature design and implementation.
  • Use engineering judgment to make go/no-go decisions for customer releases.
  • Communicate the validation and quality plan, including scope and timing, to engineering and product leadership.

  • 5+ years of experience working on integrated hardware, firmware, and software sensors or products.
  • Ability to assess complex technical and organizational situations and bring clarity to the team.

  • Research has shown that women & underrepresented minorities are more likely to read lists of requirements and consider themselves unqualified if they don't meet every single one. This list represents what we're ideally looking for, but everyone has unique strengths & weaknesses, and we hire for strength & potential, not lack of weakness.
