Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to recipes.
- Adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions.
- Monitor all food items for temperature, taste, and quality.
- Use various utensils and grillers to cook food.
- Dress dishes for presentation before serving.
- Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and working properly.
- Store all food and items properly to maintain freshness and safety.
- Check and ensure the quality of ingredients.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders for shortages with supervisor's approval.
- Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines, including governmental and company policies.
- Assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff.
- Maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
- Attend all required in-service training sessions.
- Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team.
- Maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Accredited food handler certification within 60 days, as per State guidelines.
- 6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook.
- Experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent physical condition and stamina.
