About the Role
The Maintenance Project Engineer will manage all activities related to the mechanical operations and development of the facility. They are responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient operation and maintenance of the facility in accordance with company policies and standards, under the direction of the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage hands-on activities related to outages, turbine overhauls, and process or manufacturing operations.
- Supervise assigned projects and provide oversight.
- Prepare design criteria, diagrams, functional descriptions, calculations, equipment selection, drawings, sketches/layouts, and specifications.
- Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and purchase documents; review drawings and submittals; perform field work.
- Coordinate work with outside contractors, engineers, and in-house maintenance.
- Prepare/revise layouts, operational manuals, and procedures.
- Develop engineering and capital cost estimates.
- Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
- Confer with Engineering Department to determine project details, including plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
- Manage contractors during projects.
- Fully participate in safety programs.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Achieve a high level of quality.
- Analyze and evaluate current processes and procedures to ensure consistency and adherence with formula, procedures, and equipment.
- Support Engineering and Maintenance Departments in identifying and executing major & minor capital improvement projects.
- Assist in the preparation of work scopes, requests for proposals, and purchase orders for assigned projects.
- Monitor project schedules.
- Obtain permits when required.
- Maintain project files for submittals, RFIs, change orders, equipment delivery, etc.
- Prepare specifications for bid negotiation, contracts, and rate estimations.
- Complete corporate and plant training programs within the prescribed timeframe.
- Follow standard safety procedures and correct safety and environmental hazards.
- Read, understand, and implement lockout/tagout, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action.
- Troubleshoot equipment and assist in diagnosing problem areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years of experience in an incineration plant environment.
- Minimum of five years in a supervisory role.
- Maintain all licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.
