About the Role

The Site Coordinator oversees a team of Lead Shelter Monitors, Shelter Monitors, and a Care Coordinator to ensure the safety and well-being of guests at the site. This role involves training staff, organizing meetings, providing supervision, coordinating schedules, and maintaining communication with city partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and support to Lead Shelter Monitors.
  • Troubleshoot staffing concerns in collaboration with the Program Director and HR.
  • Train all new staff on their responsibilities.
  • Organize team meetings for training and policy review.
  • Check timesheets daily for accuracy in the iSolved system.
  • Ensure staff and guests follow COVID-19 precautions and protocols.
  • Coordinate logistics with city departments for building maintenance, janitorial, food service, and security.
  • Support client-related issues using de-escalation, harm reduction, and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Manage crisis intervention and critical incidents.
  • Establish a client-centered, trauma-informed team approach to assist clients with exiting homelessness.
  • Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook.
  • Work within the agency’s mission, vision, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Treat each community member with respect and dignity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities around issues of affordable housing, land use, and/or immigrant & worker rights.
  • Familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco is highly desired.
  • Understanding of intersectionality and the needs of communities impacted by homelessness in San Francisco, particularly in the Mission District.
  • Strong commitment to housing justice, as well as inclusive and multi-cultural programming.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • 3 or more years of direct client experience, preferably within housing and shelter programs.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing other team members.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, establishing boundaries, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Requires flexibility and will demand some nights and weekends.
