About the Role

The Foster Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the foster program. This role coordinates the movement of animals in and out of foster homes, provides support to foster parents, and facilitates the adoption process for animals in foster care.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to foster volunteers, answering questions, offering support for behavioral issues, and following up on medical concerns.
• Coordinate transportation of foster animals to foster volunteers, between care centers, and to adoption events.
• Coordinate with Veterinary Services to ensure foster animals receive appropriate vaccines and treatment plans, schedule follow-up appointments, and assist with handling animals.
• Assist in identifying appropriate foster animals for off-site adoption, outreach, and media opportunities.
• Coordinate logistics for foster animals attending events, including scheduling behavior assessments, medical, and transport.
• Assist Foster Supervisor with management of foster volunteer database.
• Secure appropriate photographs of animals for foster and events.
• Recruit new foster volunteers through orientations, interviews, and training.
• Lead Open Foster Hours and identify appropriate foster animals for new fosters.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of work experience in a client-facing position.
• Strong computer literacy required.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, often high-stress, ever-changing environment.
• Treat animals and people with respect and employ humane handling techniques whenever possible.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Fear Free certification within 30 days of hire.
