About the Role
Under the general direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director provides administrative and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary staff. This role manages day-to-day operations, monitors clinical service delivery, and ensures the quality and appropriateness of program services. The Assistant Director also coordinates service coverage, provides on-call administration, and manages facility or clinical emergencies, all in support of Samaritan Daytop Village's mission.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and monitors the shelter environment to ensure behavioral guidelines are followed, a therapeutic milieu is maintained, and interpersonal relationships remain positive.
- Coordinates and implements clinical services for the multidisciplinary case management team.
- Helps implement and monitor policies, procedures, and systems for effective and efficient program service delivery.
- Provides regularly scheduled clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.
- Documents supervisory sessions, completes appraisals, and administers discipline as required.
- Makes recommendations on hiring and terminating staff.
- Helps identify staff training needs and plans, develops, or conducts training to improve clinical staff competency and compliance.
- Ensures staff maintain accurate, complete, and timely client treatment records compliant with regulatory requirements and agency policy.
Requirements
- Associates Degree with 15+ years of progressive experience working with the homeless population.
- 10+ years of experience supervising social service/human services staff in shelter/transitional or permanent supportive housing.
- Experience working with the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) or other similar city-operated organizations.
- Strong leadership and effective management skills.
- Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Knowledgeable about Federal, State, and Local law and regulation governing substance abuse treatment programs.
