About the Role

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a dedicated individual to perform railcar and train movements, ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations. This role involves operating switches, inspecting equipment, and communicating with crew members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct railcar and train movements, signaling crew members for movement using lantern, hand, flag, or radio signals.
• Observe, interpret, and relay signals affecting train movement.
• Operate track switches to change the direction of the engine or cars.
• Inspect the condition of the train and equipment.
• Couple air connections between railcars and railcar movers.
• Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules and regulations.
• Monitor track conditions and report any issues.
• Perform ER checks utilizing technology for all arriving and departing trains.
• Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required PPE.

Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to utilize technology in the form of a tablet and/or computer.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds.
• Able to work in an outdoor environment on a constant basis.
• Able to work in variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
