About the Role
Interstate Waste Services is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team, contributing to our mission of providing high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing safety. This role involves operating and maintaining locomotives to support our rail-served landfill operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre and post trip inspections on locomotives to ensure proper working condition.
- Operate locomotive in accordance with company and FRA policies.
- Observe, interpret, and relay signals and indications affecting train movement.
- Safely and efficiently switch cars through the railyard to meet production needs.
- Inspect the condition of the train and equipment while in movement and stationary.
- Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
- Monitor track conditions and report any issues.
- Follow OSHA safety standards and wear required PPE.
Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to utilize technology in the form of a tablet and/or computer.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds.
- Able to work in an outdoor environment on a constant basis.
- Able to work exposed to variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
Work Type
- Monday - Friday 7am-7:30pm
Experience Level
- Minimum 1 year of rail engineering and experience
Education Level
- High school/GED education completed
Salary/Compensations
- USD $24.58/Hr.
