About the Role

The Machine Operator position performs a variety of duties in the set-up and operation of equipment as defined in the work instructions for each process.

Responsibilities

• Reviews production schedules, process procedures and specifications regarding the sequential start-up, operation and control of automated equipment and peripheral hardware.
• Performs automated equipment set-up functions including loading electronic components, raw cards, feeders, fixtures, stencils, chemicals, etc.
• Performs sequential start-up for automated equipment and all peripheral hardware.
• Monitors the operation of automated equipment and peripheral hardware, initiating adjustments to ensure operation within established control limits.
• Monitors shelf-life usage of perishable chemicals, moisture sensitive parts and raw card assemblies.
• Inspects quality levels of production on automated equipment and peripheral hardware, making adjustments when workmanship drops below specifications.
• Initiates rework/repair activities on substandard product.
• Records data required for statistical process control or inventory management.
• Performs preventive maintenance on automated equipment and peripheral hardware at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs sequential shutdown, including cleaning of automated equipment or peripheral hardware.

Requirements

• Completion of a high school degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Successful completion of company provided training may be required.
• Typically requires 2-3 years of machine operator experience.
• Demonstrates basic manufacturing line knowledge and participates in process.
• Use of electronic assembly tools may be required: color code, component, schematics, PCB loading, PCB touch-up, mechanical assembly, surface mount assembly.
• Use of inspection tools may be required: PCB loaded, components, measuring tools.
• Use of machine operation tools may be required: automatic component insertion equipment, surface mount insertion equipment and wave.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Basic monthly maintenance of machine.
• Demonstrates manufacturing line skills.
• Demonstrates detailed manufacturing line knowledge and may lead process.
