About the Role

Partner directly with engineering squads to design solutions, navigate architecture standards, and build with confidence. Contribute to internal automated governance agents, supporting technology evaluation, PR review, and standards enforcement across the organization. This is an individual contributor role focused on influence, expertise, and relationship building.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct architecture guidance to engineering squads, including solution design, trade-off analysis, and pattern selection.
  • Assist squads in preparing for ARB and JAD sessions when new technologies or patterns are introduced, pressure-testing designs.
  • Contribute directly to agents that power technology evaluation, PR review, standards enforcement, and ARB submission support.
  • Translate architecture principles and the Tech Roadmap into actionable guidance for engineers.
  • Build working examples of patterns before recommending them to teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to understand constraints and tailor architecture guidance.
  • Help squads adopt AI-assisted and agentic development practices, establishing patterns, guardrails, and metrics.
  • Use the Tech Roadmap and enterprise architecture graph to identify and address technical debt and dependencies.
  • Assist teams in establishing automated dependency upgrades, patching, and modernization pipelines.
  • Create, curate, and maintain reusable reference architectures and a documented reference code base.

Requirements

  • Strong record designing and evolving backend/distributed systems architecture, including data modeling and event-driven design.
  • Experience with schema governance, API design, or platform-scale technical standards is ideal.
  • Real experience building AI agents, working with LLMs, and applying agentic patterns to production workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive adoption across teams without direct authority.
  • Experience thinking of engineers as customers and helping solve their problems.
  • Experience defining and evolving technical standards across many teams.
  • Demonstrated success introducing AI-based development practices to engineering teams.
  • Experience mapping system dependencies and leading modernization or automated-upgrade programs.
