About the Role

The Supervising Therapist is a member of the clinic leadership team, providing clinical and administrative oversight to clinicians, students, and counselors. This role ensures quality service delivery, timely documentation, and productivity standards, while also carrying a small caseload for direct client care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides person-centered outpatient behavioral health care to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Conducts intake assessments and develops treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Utilizes clinical interventions to help clients achieve their service plan goals.
  • Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Completes all necessary written reports, statistics, case files, and summaries in a timely manner.
  • Documents all services in the clinic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) within established timeframes.
  • Supervises assigned therapists and substance abuse counselors, providing weekly clinical supervision.
  • Conducts group supervision for assigned staff at least once per month.
  • Reviews and approves documentation, ensuring professional standards are met.
  • Facilitates a safe environment for staff to discuss cases and problem-solve.
  • Supports student clinicians in developing professional skills, identity, and ethics.
  • Advocates for clients and families by coordinating with county providers and agencies.
  • Reviews and approves staff timesheets, expenses, and time-off requests.
  • Reviews incident reports and escalates serious incidents.
  • Provides Supervisor of the Day/Evening/On-Call coverage as assigned.
  • Supports staff orientation, professional development, and training.
  • Establishes performance expectations, monitors productivity, and addresses performance concerns.
  • Maintains accurate supervision records and communicates staff performance to the Clinic Director.
  • Upholds agency policies and procedures, maintains community provider relationships, and participates in meetings.

Requirements

  • Current NYS clinical license required (LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT).
  • CASAC preferred.
  • Minimum of three years post-graduate experience treating individuals/families with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical and administrative supervision skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical judgment, initiative, and professional knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder services.
  • Excellent communication, computer literacy, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Flexible and family-oriented.
  • Availability to work one evening per week.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with reliable transportation.
