About the Role
The Rental Manager is responsible for managing regional rental operations across multiple branches, ensuring a consistent and positive customer experience. This role drives the efficient and profitable operation of the rental business in New York, requiring regular travel to branches and customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day rental operations across an assigned region
- Travel to branch locations as needed to oversee execution and operational consistency
- Visit customer sites to support service delivery and resolve rental-related issues
- Serve as a key contact for regional rental customer experience
- Play a pivotal role in the growth of the rental business within the region; create and implement strategies that will increase rental revenue
- Travel with account managers to current and prospective customer locations to become the customers one stop solution
- Work with sales management to educate and identify rental solutions for the sales team
- Work with local organizations and associations within the region to build relationships that will result in an elevated brand awareness
- Contact previous and prospective customers to establish a relationship and educate them about the rental solutions Alta offers
- Ensure required documentation is complete (agreements, POs, COIs)
- Approve discounts within limits and protect rental margins
- Ensure all delivered rental equipment across the region is billed on time
- Monitor open contracts for missed or delayed billing
- Identify and address idle or underutilized equipment regionally
- Execute fleet transfers, reassignments, and redeployment
- Review service costs charged to rental and investigate variances
- Supervise, train, and coach rental coordinators
- Instill a customer focused culture within the department
- Prepare, develop, and execute self/employee training and product knowledge for rental department personnel
- Audit CRM activity to ensure clean opportunity progression
- Act on customer feedback to improve satisfaction and retention
Requirements
- Experience in rental operations, equipment rentals, or multi-location operations
- Strong understanding of contracts, pricing, and billing
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the region
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills
- High attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Execution-focused with strong regional ownership
- Comfortable interacting with customers and branch leadership
- Process-driven and decisive
- Strong cross-functional collaborator
