About the Role

The Account Director, GSO London (Sports & Entertainment) manages a portfolio of complex GSO accounts, building and maintaining business relationships to achieve market share goals across all Marriott Lodging brands. The primary focus is on increasing preference and loyalty by emphasizing ease of doing business with Marriott, with direct accountability for sales activities within assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate qualification and re-qualification of accounts.
  • Establish and maintain up-to-date account information, including needs, history, plans, and organizational structure.
  • Interpret financial statements to assist in formulating account proposals.
  • Maintain account information in SFA for accurate reporting.
  • Manage all resources within budgeted guidelines.
  • Proactively develop goals and objectives to support the strategic account plan.
  • Represent all brands of Marriott Lodging.
  • Responsible for proactive account or segment sales.
  • Support data gathering, reporting, and tracking functions.
  • Identify, develop, initiate, and manage opportunities aligned with strategic account initiatives.
  • Identify key purchase points and decision-makers.
  • Network account teams to maximize coverage of key contacts and revenue streams.
  • Partner with HQ support for annual pricing, RFPs, and related maintenance.
  • Relate customer needs to product capabilities.
  • Quantify the business impact for both customer and Marriott.
  • Work with Revenue Management to support account strategy.
  • Anticipate and seize opportunities to build customer satisfaction.
  • Bring cross-functional and cross-business knowledge to develop business solutions.
  • Deliver value-added products and services to create long-term customer loyalty.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key buying influences by delivering 'ease of doing business' solutions.
  • Position self as a 'Subject Matter Expert' in customer, account, business segment, or market activity.
  • Pursue initiatives to capitalize on strengths, market opportunities, and counter competitive threats.
  • Conduct information-oriented sessions at each level of influence to foster commitment to Marriott.
  • Counsel internal stakeholders on optimal negotiating stance.
  • Deliver value-added products and services to create long-term customer preference and loyalty.
  • Deliver on commitments to customers.
  • Focus on two-way communication to maintain a win-win relationship.
  • Proactively seek feedback from customers using GSO resources and tools.
  • Use knowledge of Marriott's operations, markets, and competitors to promote dialogue and enrich customer interactions.
  • Assist people from diverse cultures and backgrounds to contribute and succeed in the account team.
  • Demonstrate benefits of total account management and team-based sales.
  • Ensure account sales strategies are communicated, implemented, and updated.
  • Facilitate educational opportunities that enhance credibility and integration between GSO and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional and industry organizations.
  • Participate with account team in market pull-through activity.
  • Provide opportunities for communicating account needs throughout the organization.
  • Support 'in-market' needs of properties in a given regional area.
  • Utilize account team for Best Practice sharing and problem-solving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years sales and marketing experience required.
  • Strong preference for candidate who speaks English.

Skills

  • Total Account Management experience preferred.
  • Hospitality sales experience preferred.
