About the Role
The Director of Marketing and Communications at Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY) is a strategic leader responsible for driving brand presence, visibility, and engagement of the Girl Scout mission. This role leads the creation and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies to increase membership, volunteerism, program participation, community awareness, and donor stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Ensure marketing strategy aligns with GSWNY’s strategic plan, vision, mission, values, and equity commitment.
- Develop and manage an annual marketing calendar aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
- Plan and execute internal and external marketing campaigns.
- Create and maintain a strategy for email communications, including newsletters and segmented campaigns.
- Lead social media planning and execution across all platforms.
- Oversee website launches, content updates, and edits.
- Manage the strategy and production of print materials.
- Ensure brand standards and messaging consistency across all materials and channels.
- Lead all ad buying, including print, digital, TV, radio, and streaming.
- Track and optimize ad performance.
- Develop and implement a PR strategy to generate media coverage.
- Serve as lead on media relations and media requests.
- Build and manage the annual marketing budget.
- Create and track purchase orders and manage expense entries.
- Identify and cultivate collaborations with local ambassadors, influencers, and community organizations.
- Attend and photograph key events for marketing use.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in strategic marketing, with leadership experience.
- Proven success in campaign planning, media buying, digital marketing, and storytelling.
- Experience managing external agencies, freelance creatives, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Proficiency in digital tools (email platforms, social scheduling, analytics) and platforms like Google Ads, Meta Business Manager, and Canva or Adobe Suite.
- Graphic design experience.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends for events and travel across the region.
