About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Engineer & Office Director to lead our New York office. This dual role combines high-level technical expertise with strategic leadership and business development, overseeing office operations, managing engineering projects, mentoring staff, and representing the firm in the New York market.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and review design and engineering work on civil/structural projects.
- Ensure technical accuracy, quality control, and compliance with local codes and standards.
- Provide guidance on complex engineering challenges and serve as a subject-matter expert.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Direct and manage day-to-day operations of the New York office.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop engineering and administrative staff.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that supports employee growth.
- Implement company policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives at the office level.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and referrals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the New York region.
- Represent the firm at industry events, networking opportunities, and professional organizations.
- Prepare and present proposals, qualifications packages, and client presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York required.
- 10+ years of progressive engineering and leadership experience in the AEC industry.
- Proven track record of successful project management and client development.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to balance technical project responsibilities with office management and business growth.
