About the Role
WM is seeking an Assistant Diesel/CNG Mechanic to join their team, offering a safer work environment, career progression, and financial security. This role is crucial for maintaining the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA, ensuring communities are supported by dedicated work.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
- Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assist senior mechanics in the completion of project work.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative for potential air travel or federal property access.
