About the Role

GFT is seeking a Coatings Inspector for Water Tank Projects to join our Construction Services team in Woodbury, NY. This role supports water tank and infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Performing field inspections of elevated and ground water storage tanks, documenting environmental factors, surface preparation, and coatings application.
  • Documenting daily job-site activities through detailed written reports and photographic records.
  • Monitoring contractor compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and industry standards.
  • Communicating findings clearly with project managers, contractors, and client personnel.
  • Supporting multiple construction or rehabilitation projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience working on water tank and infrastructure projects.
  • AMPP/NACE CIP Level 1 certification.
  • Strong understanding of coatings systems, surface preparation standards, and inspection methodologies in accordance with AMPP, ASTM, and AWWA Standards and Practices.
  • Strong documentation skills to produce thorough daily inspection reports and photographic records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools and ability to learn other reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to climb ladders, access elevated tanks, and enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and use inspection tools and equipment.
  • Ability to undergo and pass a physical with respirator fit test.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to climb structures and/or tanks in excess of 150’ in height.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.

Salary/Compensations

  • $88,000 - $128,000
