About the Role

Sage Hospitality Group is hiring a Dishwasher/Steward for banquets at Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, Texas. This role is crucial for maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment and ensuring clean dishware for restaurant and kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• Gathers dirty dishware, rinses, and stacks in dishracks, clearing leftovers and trash before automated washing.
• Loads full dishracks onto the belt and operates the automatic dishwashing machine.
• Loads dishwashing solutions into automatic dispensers and regulates detergent/chemical output.
• Unloads clean dishes, inspects for cleanliness, and stacks them in specified carts and shelves.
• Manually scrubs pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment that cannot be washed automatically.
• Manually dries and puts away scrubbed equipment in correct places.
• Polishes all silver, stainless steel, and pewter used in food service.
• Maintains automatic dishwashing equipment in good working order.
• Keeps the dish room clean and orderly by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and organizing shelves.
• Mops kitchen floors and cleans kitchen work surfaces, walls, ceilings, hoods, vents, and ovens.
• Gathers and empties trash cans from kitchen work areas into the outside trash compactor.
• Sweeps loading dock and kitchen entrance areas, clearing litter and debris.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Must have basic knowledge of dishwashing.
• Must be able to see minute objects at arm’s length, read meters and controls.
• Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, crawl, reach, and retrieve items from above head.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. up to 75% of the time.
• Must be able to travel up to 300 feet and stand throughout the shift.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively.
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and pay attention to details in crowded and noisy situations.
• Must have the ability to keep breakage to a minimum by handling china, glassware, and fragile equipment with care.
