About the Role
Oversee the operation and maintenance of all building systems for a shelter for people experiencing homelessness, ensuring residents have a clean, safe, and well-maintained living space. Lead a team and manage physical plant operations, utilities, housekeeping, and landscaping, while ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision for the maintenance team, fostering teamwork and high morale.
- Diagnose, service, and repair HVAC, electrical, boilers, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware accessories, furnishings, masonry, painting/wallpaper, landscaping, snow removal, and waste management systems.
- Collaborate with site leadership to formulate and administer site policies and develop long-range goals, including preventive maintenance plans, facility maintenance, and construction.
- Prepare budgets and review/analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data.
- Build relationships with city, state, federal, and local officials concerning facilities or capital projects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.
- At least five (preferably ten) years of work experience including supervision of staff and management of facilities operations (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical power, building systems, etc.).
- Experience working with management-level leaders on budgeting, staffing, capital planning, and resource management.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships, negotiating solutions, and leading a culturally diverse staff.
- Ability to interact with architects, engineers, construction personnel, and professional tradespeople.
- Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office and property management software.
- Valid US Driver’s license.
