About the Role
Advanced Dermatology, P.C. is seeking a Part Time Medical Assistant to provide administrative and clinical support to licensed medical providers, ensuring patient care and efficient office operations. The role requires accuracy, quality work, compassion, and timeliness.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming purpose of visit.
- Support patient care by assisting providers during examinations, preparing specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, and sterilizing medical instruments.
- Authorize drug refills as directed and call in prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Remove sutures and change dressings.
- Enter patients' vital statistics and information into the Electronic Health Record (EMA), including medications, test results, and orders.
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
- Assist during medical examinations as allowable by law.
- Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms.
- Schedule follow-up appointments as indicated by the provider.
- Complete required administrative tasks, reporting, and recordkeeping entries daily.
- Return patient calls by the end of the day.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Some college preferred.
- Medical assistant certification (CMA / RMA) preferred.
- 1+ year of experience working as a medical assistant.
- Dermatology experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Friendly and compassionate disposition with strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to maintain effective and organized systems for timely patient flow.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
- EMA experience is a plus.
