About the Role

GE Vernova's Steam Turbine Repairs & Upgrades operation in Schenectady, NY is seeking two Manufacturing Engineers to support technically specialized manufacturing processes. This hands-on role involves owning the engineering process from assessment through repair and upgrades, with daily interaction with various departments. The work directly impacts the safe and timely return of customer power plants to operation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standard repair plans for steam rotor work.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and problem-solving support on the shop floor.
  • Lead and manage rotor welding upgrade projects, owning timelines, scope, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Define and control production processes, including tooling, equipment, and design specification validation.
  • Build, maintain, and improve operator training programs.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, build books, and project folders.
  • Interface cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and manufacturing cells.
  • Drive continuous improvement across cycle time, cost reduction, equipment reliability, tooling, and ergonomic/safety solutions.
  • Support product qualification activities as needed.
  • Operate as an operations leader, contributing to team performance and production outcomes.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude is the most important attribute.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A mindset oriented toward continuous learning.
  • Experience working with customer-owned products that require repair or refurbishment.
  • Familiarity with lean principles — 5S, takt time, cycle time analysis.
  • Project management experience or demonstrated ability to manage deliverables across cross-functional teams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employment offer is conditioned upon successful completion of a drug screen.

  • Equivalent relevant work experience

Salary/Compensations

  • $91,700.00 - $152,700.00
  • Discretionary annual bonus
