About the Role

HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Enhanced Family Foster Care (EFFC) program seeks a Unit Supervisor for its Brooklyn location office to build and lead a strong team that provides and coordinates excellent quality care and healing to children, ensuring every child on the caseload lives in a nurturing, safe, and permanent family as quickly as possible. The Unit Supervisor will report to the Director of Foster Care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides coaching and support to staff to reinforce quality case practice.
  • Completes and submits staff evaluations.
  • Resolves and addresses staff issues.
  • Participates in hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Provides formal and informal supportive, programmatic, and clinical supervision to each team member.
  • Holds formal individual supervision weekly and team meetings monthly.
  • Holds staff accountable for strong performance.
  • Ensures appropriate record-keeping, including supervisory records.
  • Responds to case emergencies, including after hours when necessary.
  • Conducts home visits, school visits, and attends court hearings when necessary.
  • Attends internal and external training and applies newly gained knowledge.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Reviews all Progress Notes, Court Reports, correspondence, and other documentation, ensuring quality and timely submission.
  • Ensures timely and accurate submission of all forms and documents required by ACS and NYF.
  • Ensures adherence to all city and state mandates, including documentation of necessary contacts by Case Planner.
  • Facilitates family team conferences as a back-up.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • Experience in child welfare/case management strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two to five years of supervisory and/or managerial experience in a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with Administration for Children Services (ACS), Office of Children Family Services (OCFS), Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), and other relevant municipal and state agencies preferred.
  • Must maintain a broad knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodology of social work.
  • Ability to teach, train, and coach team members.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under stress or in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Connection highly preferred.
  • Driver's license is preferred.
  • Selected candidates will be required to complete a safety training course prior to use of an agency vehicle.
  • Candidates will not use personal vehicles for organization-related driving.

  • $70,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
