About the Role

Recreation programs aim to enhance participants' self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, physical fitness, and social skills through diverse crafts, arts, and physical activities. This casual position involves leading high-quality Learn to Skate programs at designated City of London sites, ensuring efficient program delivery and excellent customer service in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-quality Learn to Skate programs ensuring participant engagement, fun, and safety.
• Supervise program participants, fostering fair play and sportsmanship.
• Implement program plans using provided resources.
• Evaluate skaters to determine readiness for advancement to the next level.
• Maintain daily records of attendance, accidents, injuries, and safety checks.
• Provide excellent customer service with a positive and professional attitude.
• Manage program supply inventory and communicate needs to supervisors.
• Ensure equipment and facilities are safe and report any issues.
• Assist with the distribution of program literature.
• Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights.
• Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and promote a culture of safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of experience working with children in a recreation environment is an asset.
• A minimum of five years of skating experience.
• Must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check (VSPC) prior to the start of the program.
• Minimum age of 16 by the start of the programs.

Skills

• Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of behavior modification techniques.
• Experience working with children or youth with special needs is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of comfort in fast-paced public-facing environments.
• Second language is an asset.
