About the Role

The Behavioral Health Clinician is a key member of the therapeutic team at Cedar Knolls House, responsible for providing culturally sensitive clinical interventions within the program. This role ensures appropriate evaluations and treatment interventions for youth aged 16-21 with emotional and behavioral challenges, aiming for successful community reintegration within a year.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with assigned residents for weekly sessions.
  • Engage and remain in contact with parents.
  • Ensure home visits are conducted.
  • Ensure vocational/educational, psychiatric, and recreational services are provided.
  • Identify and provide access to specific concrete services and community resources.
  • Engage families in planning for services.
  • Advocate with external resources such as mental health providers, treatment facilities, FCLS, and community members on behalf of residents.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling on-site for young ladies aged 16-21.
  • Liaise between program staff, family court, ACS, case planners, youth’s family members, and relevant community members.
  • Attend ACS and school conferences, as well as court hearings.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and potentially lead them.
  • Prepare integrative treatment plans based on assessments from other professionals.
  • Ensure follow-up from meetings as necessary.
  • Conduct meetings to ensure proper treatment, program progress, and goal coordination.
  • Provide psychoeducation and intervention support to Direct Support Professionals.
  • Work with Direct Support Professionals to enhance communication and cooperation with consumer families.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Complete paperwork, including case notes, FASPs, PHR’s, and court reports, in a timely manner.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments within the first 30 days of youth’s admission.
  • Participate in audit preparation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience with a similar population.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Experience with documenting in electronic health records.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to travel in the community with residents utilizing an agency vehicle.
  • Ability to engage in physical activities with the youth.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to read paper and electronic documents.
  • Ability to perform significant data entry into various computer programs.
