About the Role

The Advancement Manager plays a leadership role within the Office of Advancement, ensuring departmental programs, systems, and staff are strategically aligned to maximize philanthropic revenue and membership growth. This role oversees day-to-day advancement operations, supervises staff, and ensures fundraising initiatives are executed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day advancement operations.
  • Supervises staff.
  • Ensures fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, membership, grants, special events, and campaign activity, are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of the Annual Fund and Gala.
  • Supports campaign strategy and execution.
  • Oversees a comprehensive grants program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in annual giving, grants, events, or campaign support.
  • Proven experience in development, fundraising, or advancement roles, preferably within cultural or nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technologically proficient, with experience using donor management software (Blackbaud preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively articulate the mission, case for support, and funding priorities to donors, funders, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds in support of events and operational needs.
  • A passion for the arts, culture, and the Adirondack community is a plus.
