About the Role
The FCA Market Research team provides vital consumer insights to support regulatory decisions. This role will focus on managing the Financial Lives survey (FLS) and bespoke research projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery through effective project management, supplier coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The position also involves contributing to the renewal of the Market Research Framework and potentially leading smaller bespoke research projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure FLS is delivered to time and budget through excellent timetabling, coordinating dependencies, resource allocation, progress monitoring, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage responses to queries for FLS analysis in FCA papers and publications.
- Manage the MI collected on query types and sources.
- Manage internal governance processes for FLS publication sign-off.
- Manage the FLS budget spreadsheet, liaise with suppliers monthly for invoice agreement, and produce monthly summaries for Finance.
- Produce forecasts as required by Finance.
- Manage the process of agreeing scope and costs with suppliers for upcoming FLS waves every two years.
- Manage contract variations within each 2-year FLS wave as needed.
- Provide project management support for the procurement and delivery of bespoke market research projects.
- Help build and maintain the pipeline of work coming into the team.
- Plan the renewal of the Market Research Framework from mid-2027.
- Run smaller bespoke projects, including research design, analysis, and reporting, subject to availability and interests.
- Support stakeholder engagement and communications planning to maximize the value of Market Research Team outputs.
- Contribute to wider team management, including recruitment coordination, managing team meeting agendas, updating FCA systems, and process improvement.
Requirements
- Prior experience managing market research projects within a market research agency, regulator, or government department.
- Experience devising and overseeing workstreams and detailed timelines.
- Experience overseeing suppliers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work autonomously and deliver on initiative.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve wider team goals.
- Ability to keep delivery on track.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to implement and maintain processes that ensure quality and rigor.
- Good knowledge of a broad range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Experience in survey design, questionnaire development, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to manage complex timelines and capacity plans (e.g., using Gantt charts and Excel).
- Ability to adapt delivery to changing priorities, resource constraints, and competing demands.
- Excellent team-working skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence to engage senior colleagues, subject matter experts, operational teams, and suppliers.
- Experience of managing research budgets.
- High level of ability in Excel for budget management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £53,800 to £67,199 per annum
- London ranging from £59,200 to £73,799 per annum

- The team also conducts bespoke surveys and qualitative research for other areas of the FCA, collaborates with third-party data providers and ensures consumer insights are embedded across the organisation.
