About the Role
The Superintendent leads, directs, and coordinates the work of subcontractors and/or Turner trade labor, ensuring project safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and adherence to budget. This role involves supervisory responsibility for Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels.
- Oversee work among assigned trades to promote coordinated project operations and resolve local area problems.
- Manage the overall site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner standards and safety codes.
- Supervise and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and/or Interns.
- Create schedules, determine work sequencing, and develop recovery strategies.
- Communicate with owners and architects/engineers regarding field issues and investigate/resolve them.
- Manage the billing process, including Work In Place (WIP), monthly estimates, payrolls, invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
- Ensure work is installed in compliance with approved contract documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of four years' related experience, training, and/or experience.
- Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling, and cost control procedures.
- Understanding of general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EH&S applications.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical demands including climbing stairs and ladders, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in an environment with moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions.
