About the Role
This permanent, full-time position is responsible for accounts receivable, general accounting processes, and administrative duties for MaRS’ real estate assets and related businesses. Responsibilities include journal entries, month-end close, account reconciliations, and providing backup support for accounts payable and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Process cash receipts accurately and in a timely manner according to cash application procedures.
- Monitor the AR inbox for remittances and inquiries, maintain accurate AR aging, and prepare monthly management fee invoices and AR reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly financial reporting, including journal entries, accruals, supporting schedules, and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and HST returns.
- Support the purchase order administration process by monitoring the PO inbox and processing PO requests for approval.
- Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
- Assist with the preparation of detailed annual budgets and re-forecasts.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and assist the Property Accounting and Administration team with various financial and operational tasks, projects, and process improvements.
- Support MDEI team on business strategies and assist in developing new workflows and processes.
Requirements
- Accounting diploma
- 1 year of experience in AR/AP and GL
- Knowledge of accounting practices and processes
- Collaborative and a team player
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and function effectively under pressure
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Reside in Ontario
- Willing to work out of our Toronto office a minimum of 3 days per week
