About the Role

Springboard's Adult community justice programs deliver supports to individuals in the justice system in Ontario, offering diversion and accountability programs to those 18+ referred by probation or crown attorneys. The Direct Accountability Program (DAP) team supports individuals with Toronto Court matters, provides case management, and connects participants with additional resources.

Responsibilities

• Supporting with central intake for all DAP referrals across the Toronto South and Toronto East regions
• Completing all intake requirements, including reviewing and assessing appropriate referrals
• Providing information and support to participants regarding justice-related processes
• Ensuring sanctions and community service placements are appropriate, proportionate, and meaningful
• Maintaining ongoing communication with all parties to ensure appropriate supports and provide follow-up
• Participating in evaluation and feedback meetings with partners, participants, and team
• Supporting the development, collection, and review of evaluation data
• Facilitating individual and/or group programming as needed
• Supporting placement students, as assigned
• Researching community resources for program participants, families, and individuals impacted by offence(s)
• Identifying and engaging suitable volunteer placements
• Developing program and service agreements with placement agencies
• Fostering relationships and representing the program and organization at network tables, community groups, conferences, etc.
• Actively participating in team and individual meetings
• Communicating with referral sources and team members regarding participants' progression
• Timely and accurate reporting of referrals, case notes, meeting minutes, stats, and other administrative duties
• Supporting the implementation of program evaluation and other reporting processes or special projects
• Participating in strategic planning and other organizational initiatives and committees
• Executing other responsibilities as necessary to achieve program objectives and deliverables

Requirements

• Minimum diploma in Social Work or related field
• 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable populations
• Some knowledge of and/or experience working within the justice system
• Understanding of community organizations and supports available to youth and adults
• Understanding of the principles of proportionality and reparation as it relates to the justice system
• Direct experience engaging with diverse populations and an ability to apply a culturally responsive lens
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders effectively, respectfully, and efficiently with minimal supervision
• Experience in problem-solving and working through immediate challenges
• Proven ability to work within and across teams
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Ability to travel throughout the Halton, Peel, Toronto, and York regions and surrounding area
• Understanding of relevant legislation and institutional policies (including the Criminal Code of Canada, Ministry of Correctional Services Act) (Nice to Have)
• Experience in developing community-based interventions that respond to individual needs, and address prevention, rehabilitation, and reparation of harm (Nice to Have)
• Knowledge of the social service agencies operating in Halton, Peel, Toronto, and York and a willingness to broaden knowledge (Nice to Have)
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate, ASIST (Nice to Have)
• Program planning skills to implement, evaluate and modify new and existing program, as needed (Nice to Have)

• Employment requires satisfactory VSS, references and proof of education
