About the Role

Strategic Mission Critical (SMC) is seeking an Entry Level Electrical Engineer / Designer to execute electrical design for mission-critical projects, including data centers and colocation facilities. This role involves conceptual designs, feasibility studies, and power systems analysis, supporting the firm's commitment to technical rigor and operational excellence in a rapidly growing digital landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Execute specific electrical design tasks for mission-critical buildings and campuses, including medium voltage distribution, redundant power systems, on-site generation, UPS backup, small power, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems.
  • Coordinate electrical power connections with internal and external disciplines.
  • Review and understand client standards, design criteria, applicable codes, and best practices.
  • Gain understanding of local and national construction codes and project specifications.
  • Utilize Autodesk Revit daily to produce detailed design documents.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
  • Meet project deadlines, including working necessary hours for major deliverables.
  • Travel to project sites and/or meetings as required (less than 10%).
  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken forms.
  • Take direction from senior and mid-level engineers and designers.
  • Actively participate in training and mentoring opportunities.
  • Maintain excellent organizational skills and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Requirements

  • 2 or 4-year degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology preferred.
  • Electrical construction experience with a drafting certification will be considered.
  • Past internship, co-op, or work experience in a consulting engineering role is a plus.
  • Experience working in the construction industry is a plus.
  • Experience using Revit in an educational or professional context is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow expertise and career.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.
  • Ability to meet scheduled project deadlines.
  • Self-starter capable of independent research.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with others in both written and spoken forms.
