About the Role

Mott MacDonald Canada is seeking a Civil Lead to champion technical excellence, grow and mentor a high-performing team, and support the strategic expansion of our civil engineering practice across core geographical markets in Central Canada. This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for an accomplished civil engineering professional who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, has a passion for developing people, and is motivated by delivering meaningful infrastructure solutions for clients and communities.

Responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring, and developing the Toronto based team of civil engineers, fostering a collaborative culture focused on growth, learning, and technical quality.
• Overseeing technical delivery and design management for a wide range of public infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, regulatory standards, and best practices.
• Serving as Engineer-of-Record for key project packages, supported by multidisciplinary technical and production teams.
• Reviewing and coordinating design documents across engineering disciplines to ensure consistency, integration, and constructability.
• Supporting business growth by identifying opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to proposals, scopes, and strategic pursuits.
• Engaging closely with clients, partners, and stakeholders to support the planning and delivery of major regional infrastructure programs.
• Promoting innovation, design excellence, and continuous improvement within the civil engineering practice.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• 20+ years of progressive civil engineering experience across public infrastructure sectors such as transportation, transit, conveyance, municipal, and highway.
• Demonstrated experience in leading a high-performing team with diverse skills and experience.
• Experience in developing team members, including coaching, mentoring, and providing technical excellence guidance on complex projects.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, business partners, contractors, and internal teams.
