About the Role

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing is a rapidly growing manufacturer of high-performance carbide cutting tools serving various industries. This role is crucial for preparing orders for shipment, processing shipments according to company policies, and coordinating imports/exports.

Responsibilities

• Prepare orders for freight, express, or parcel post shipments.
• Process shipments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Create associated paperwork, including Bills of Lading and packing lists.
• Coordinate imports/exports, including preparing receipts, tracking shipments, and updating shipping schedules.
• Assist in the assembly and labeling of packages.
• Prepare packing slips for all outbound customers.
• Accurately package and label outgoing orders, verifying quantity, type, size, and part numbers.
• Provide basic support within production areas and perform other assigned duties.
• Accurately enter transactions into the computer system, maintain records, and prepare receiving and shipping documents.
• Restock consumable items and maintain housekeeping in production areas.
• Verify accuracy of incoming products and receive materials by checking against purchase orders or receiving slips.
• Inspect and put away incoming products and supplies.
• Issue and deliver materials to the shop floor promptly.
• Address shipping and receiving questions with internal staff and customers.
• Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain and promote an optimistic, positive, and growth-oriented approach.
• Load trucks.
• Make shipping reports.
• Cross-train and back up co-workers as required.

Requirements

• Experience creating Bills of Lading and packing lists.
• Ability to work in a team environment and train others.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivating.
• Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly and stand for 100% of the shift.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong basic math skills for calculations and document interpretation.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing production needs.
• Positive attitude.
• Employees will need to be able to work while standing, sitting, bending, and climbing.
• Employees will be doing regular lifting.

Skills

• UPS Worldship experience preferred.
• MS Excel skills preferred.
• Knowledge of machine shop environment and operations preferred.
